This extraordinary image shows how adept this polar bear is at jumping across Arctic ice floes.
In fact it’s not one but four images taken in rapid succession, as adeptly captured by Judy Watman from Northside Creative Photography (NCP), a photography club calling for new members from Ku ring gai and Hornsby in the new year.
“This photo was taken while I was at a photography workshop at Svalbard, an archipelago in the Arctic Circle,” says Judy.
“I was mesmerised by this magnificent polar bear running across the ice floes and leaping over patches of water. I took a rapid sequence of photos and later used Photoshop to combine four images, capturing the movement of the bear.”
This is just one example of the sort of photography pursued by the 60 year-old photography club which fosters experimentation and creativity through monthly competitions, photo evaluation nights and talks from prominent photographers. “At our monthly competitions there’s always a variety of subject matter, from travel, landscapes and flowers to portraits and highly creative abstract or altered reality photos.”
Members range from beginners to exhibitors in national and international competitions, though most are recreational photographers. NCP’s first 2017 meeting is in Lindfield on 1st February. For more, email firstname.lastname@example.org or checkout the website: http://www.ncp.org.au
