Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury is offering up to ten free places at its September 19 Accidental Counsellor workshop at Gordon, in recognition of RUOK Day and World Suicide Prevention Day.

The four-hour Accidental Counsellor course aims to equip ordinary people with the confidence and ability to recognise when a friend or family member is struggling; to respond appropriately and with compassion; and to refer the person to a suitable service for ongoing support.

To be among the first ten readers to sign-up for the September 19 workshop (and save $150), email Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Corporate Training Manager, Cutty Felton, at cutty.felton@lifelineh2h.org.au.

Lifeline also has a new wellbeing telephone support service for people who may not be suicidal but are struggling to cope with everyday issues.

The Way2Wellness 1300 120 446 support line offers callers an initial assessment, up to four coaching callbacks, guided self-care and referrals to online therapy, resources and helpful local services.

“When someone is feeling stressed, flat, anxious, or low, they don’t always know who to turn to or how to navigate all the resources that are out there. Way2Wellness can provide the clarity that people need to make the next step back to wellness,” said Simone Isemann, Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury’s clinical services manager.

The W2W 1300 120 446 is available to residents in the Hornsby, Ku-ring-gai, Lane Cove, Ryde, Willoughby, Hunters Hill, Mosman, North Sydney and Northern Beaches local government areas from Monday to Friday, 11 am to 7pm.
