Local teachers help in HSC lockdown

Local high school teachers are giving up their time in these school holidays to tutor HSC students at a study camp being run at St John’s Anglican Church in Asquith.

The HSC Lockdown camp runs for five days from September 26th to 30th, at their Asquith centre close to the train station in Royston Parade. It’s offering students a minimum of five hours a day scheduled study time as well as tutoring from HSC teachers in a wide range of subjects, as well as chill out activities like sports and board games, small group discussions and meals.

Iris Bramley, a maths teacher at Willoughby Girls High, said:“Many students are feeling under pressure this close to the HSC, and study camps like this are a great way to keep them focussed on their study, with well‐timed breaks for some fun and good food.”

Matt Wright, Year 12 student at Turramurra High School, is looking forward to it all being finished. “My parents keep hassling me to study, and so I’ve decided to come along to get them off my back! Studying by yourself can feel pretty isolating, so it’s good to be able to work alongside some other people, away from electronic distractions.

Details about this camp, including online registration, are available on the Scripture Union NSW website at http://sunsw.org.au. The 5-day camp costs $125,  including food and tutoring. For more details contact Neil Elleson on 0414 947 625.
