The Uniting Church on the corner of Pacific Highway and Amaroo Ave in Mount Colah is getting a new roof. But that’s not all that’s raising the roof.
In response to the realities of the busy life of families, a fortnightly uplifting Sunday evening service has been introduced. Sport and other commitments can take over Sunday mornings, so a 6pm service really suits the large number of attendees, particularly families and under 30s. The service and supper are on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Check dates on the church website: www.mtcolah.unitingchurch.org.au or on the Facebook page, www.facebook.com/mtcolahunitingchurch
Friday night is also a great time at the church for young people at the Revolution Youth group. During school term from 7 to 9 pm for those in years 6 to 12, it’s a great place to hang out with friends, play games, eat yummy food, and explore big and small questions of life. On Monday evenings young adults (post-year 12) meet to spend time together and explore the Bible and how it might be relevant to them today. Call Ben 0431 180 421 or Tegan 0416 013 824 to find out more.
The Spring Fair returns on Saturday October 15. Those who’ve been to previous spring and autumn fairs will know that it’s a big event with white elephant, craft, clothes, plants, books, desserts, cakes, a BBQ, morning teas and children’s activities, including a free bouncy castle. Stallholders and car boot sellers are invited to contact Dianne 0438 203 287 or Galen 0412 181 092.
Weather permitting there will be activities in the Neighbourhood Garden, which the church has made available to the community. While the garden is located in the grounds of the church, it’s open to anyone in the community. People from diverse cultural backgrounds, religions, ages, ability and gender, are all welcome and encouraged to make the most of the opportunities presented, for near and not so near neighbours, to support one another, and to share the resources of the community and the church. It’s also available for weddings and other community events. Anyone interested in joining the regular gardening activities please contact Dianne 0438 203 287. Come along and help to raise the roof at Mt Colah Uniting Church.
