Community members are asked to provide feedback on proposed intersection improvements on Pennant Hills Road between Fisher Avenue and George Street at Pennant Hills.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said these proposed initiatives were part of the NSW Government’s $246 million Pinch Points and Clearways program and the Federal Government’s Black Spot Program.
“The two programs complement each other as the Pinch Points and Clearways program aims to reduce traffic delays and congestion on Sydney’s major roads while the Black Spot Program aims to reduce the number and severity of crashes on our roads,” the spokesperson said.
“Together the two projects will improve safety and traffic flow on Pennant Hills Road for both motorists and the community.
“Roads and Maritime Services proposes to extend the existing right turn lane along Pennant Hills Road between The Crescent and Fisher Avenue to ease congestion. This upgrade would provide space for an additional 16 cars to turn, allowing traffic to move more freely through the intersection.
“The Australian Government’s program proposes to extend the concrete median barrier on Pennant Hills Road, to improve safety for motorists at the George Street intersection. The median would ban right turns from Pennant Hills Road on to and out of George Street.
“In the five years from July 2009 to June 2014, there have been 28 reported crashes at this intersection. A median barrier would help reduce the number and severity of crashes and improve safety for both motorists and pedestrians attempting to cross at Pennant Hills Road and George Street.”
The two projects will be delivered at separate times to minimise traffic impact on motorists and the community.
Feedback on both intersection improvement projects is invited by Friday 16 December to project delivery partner DownerMouchel at email@example.com or PO Box 6465 North Ryde 2113.
Two separate community consultation reports will be prepared on the proposed improvements and made available on the Roads and Maritime website.
