Cowan gets Highway upgrade

A dangerous stretch of the Pacific Highway at Cowan is to get an upgrade to make it safer for motorists.

A stretch 350 metres south of Brooklyn Road and 1.6 km south of Fraser Road will see a $500,000 improvement package including 1.5 km of guardrail on existing safety barriers, 158 alignment markers at six locations, seven curve signs and nine speed signs.

From mid 2009 to June 2014 there were 42 motorbike crashes, one fatal, and 46 injury crashes. Traffic controls and lane closures will be in place for the six weeks of works.
