15 November 2018: Leading up to Christmas, White Lady Funerals in Pennant Hills will be collecting donations of handbags filled with feminine hygiene products and other essentials to help women of all ages experiencing poverty, homelessness and domestic violence.
Taking place between 16th November and 2nd December, this drive is part of the nationwide ‘It’s in the Bag’ campaign, held annually by women’s non-profit organisation Share the Dignity.
“It’s disconcerting to know there are women on our doorstep who need our help to afford basic hygiene products that most of us take for granted. As a member of the Pennant Hills community and a committed and professional team of women, we want to help and would appreciate any donations people can spare,” says Ann Martin, Location Manager, White Lady Funerals. Residents across the Hills region are encouraged to bring a handbag containing sanitary products, unused deodorant, toothpaste, shower gel, socks, a brush or other necessities to the White Lady Funerals at 402 Pennant Hills Road, Pennant Hills (car park entry off Boundary Road).
Once all donations have been made, Share the Dignity volunteers will collect the products and distribute them to domestic abuse shelters and drop-in centres from December onward ahead of Christmas Day.
“We love working with Share the Dignity because it’s a charity committed to supporting women, and provides such necessary services. White Lady was created with similar principles”, continues Ann. “The intention of our staff is to make everyone, of all cultures and religious backgrounds, feel cared for during very difficult times, we hope to do the same for these vulnerable women to help them enjoy one of the most joyous times of the year.”
Donations big or small will be gratefully received at White Lady Funerals, Pennant Hills, between 8.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
