NSW Youth Week 2024 Activities at the Hills Community Aid

In line with the NSW Youth Week 2024, the Hills Community Aid offers a series of informative and exciting workshops for the youth starting 15 April 2024.

The state-wide celebration for young people will run from Thursday, 11 April, to Sunday, 21 April, and will feature various performances, workshops, and activities. This year’s theme is ‘Express. Empower. Get Loud!’ the NSW Youth Advisory Council said. 

The Youth Council said Youth Week is an excellent opportunity to showcase their abilities, express their thoughts and involve themselves with the community and the state.

Nsw Youth Week Brain Games At Hills Community Aid

15 April

Bring your family to the ’Family Brain Games’ on Monday, 15 April, from noon to 1:00 PM. Tickets cost $10 and can be booked via the HCA’s website here.

“Get ready for a workshop of strategy, laughter, and bonding like never before! Join us for our Family Games Day, where we’ll be diving into the thrilling world of strategy board games like Rush Hour, Quoridor, Blokus, and more!” the HCA said.

Nsw Youth Week Cupcake Decorating At Hills Community Aid

16 April

Kids with a sweet tooth and an interest in baking can join the HCA’s ‘Buttercream Cupcake Decorating Workshop’ on Tuesday, 16 April. 

According to the organisation, young people aged 12 – 20 years old can have the chance to get hands-on experience in the art of buttercream cupcake decorating. Bringing a container and an apron or old clothes is encouraged.

The workshop will run from 9:30 AM to noon. The participants can expect the following: 

  • Guided demonstrations by skilled instructors
  • Learn various piping techniques to create stunning designs
  • Plenty of creative freedom to design your own unique cupcakes
  • Opportunity to mingle with fellow young baking enthusiasts
  • Delicious cakes to take home and enjoy with family

Tickets cost $15 per person, and they include a kit of buttercream cake decorating tools that can be taken home. Bookings can be made here

Nsw Youth Week Drawing Online At Hills Community Aid

For kids with an artistic hand, a free ‘Drawing Online with Crystal’ session, perfect for children from 7 to 18 years old, will be held on Tuesday, 16 April. From 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, attendees can expect a thorough learning session with Crystal, who will give participants the resources and techniques to make their own masterpieces. 

The HCA mentioned: “Dive into the world of creativity with our exciting drawing class led by the talented Crystal. This Youth Week, unleash your imagination and explore the wonders of drawing in a fun and supportive environment.”

Nsw Youth Week Claymation Workshop At Hills Community Aid

For a different approach to art, aspiring stop-motion artists can learn the basics of animation just like the classics Wallace & GromitCoraline, and Chicken Run at ‘Claymation—Stop motion animation for Youth’ on Tuesday, 16 April. 

According to the HCA: “Join us for an immersive workshop where students will be guided by our experienced tutors to bring their imagination to life through the magic of animation.”

From 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, attendees can “learn how to use clay to create unique characters for their own short film…[D]iscover the art of filming and editing stop motion animation using free software on a mobile device.”

Participants are required to bring their own mobile devices (IOS or Android). 

Tickets cost $10 per person and can be booked here on the HCA’s website. 

Hills Community Aid Youth Week Family Fun Day And Open Day

Last but not least is the upcoming ‘Hills Community Aid Family Fun Day’ at the Balcombe Heights Estate on Wednesday, 17 April. 

Families, youth, and kids can have fun in the Youth Week festivities, activities, and a wide range of arts and crafts. From 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, there will be a treasure hunt, AFL Challenges, jukebox music, Hills Daily Grind coffee, community info stalls & service displays, and Open Learning in the Hills Classroom Displays. 

According to the HCA: “From thrilling games to creative crafts, tasty treats to lively music, there’s an abundance of activities to keep the whole family engaged. It’s a perfect opportunity to spend quality time together, create lasting memories, and celebrate the vibrant spirit of youth.”

Service members from the Rural Fire Service and Police will also be present. 

All workshops and events will be held at the Balcombe Heights Estate, located at 92 Seven Hills Road (Learning in The Hills Turner Building 4), Baulkham Hills, NSW 2153.
