The annual St Ives Medieval Faire returns in all its splendour to St Ives Showground on September 22 and 23.
Organisers are expecting over 20,000 people to descend on the festival, now in its fifth year. Highlights include Australian jousters doing battle with the best from Europe in a re-enactment of a 15th century jousting tournament.
There’s also a Living History Village featuring five key areas travelling through the Vikings, Byzantines, Crusades, the Hundred Years War, the Wars of the Roses and into the 17th Century.
Other reasons to visit: longbow archery clashes, birds of prey displays, battles featuring Vikings, Normans and Anglo-Saxons facing the might of the Byzantines, long table gourmet feasts, special edition ales and mead.
And for the kids? Keep them busy with play battles, puppetry, dressups, face-painting, animal farm, juggling, dance lessons, craft and stories.
