Double Active Kids Vouchers

The popular NSW Government Active Kids vouchers will be doubled this year to encourage children to play sport all year round.

Jonathan O’Dea, Member for Davidson said the expansion means each child is eligible for a $100 voucher twice a calendar year.

“Many families in the Davidson electorate have embraced Active Kids since it was launched in January 2018, with over 10,000 vouchers issued in 2018,” Mr O’Dea said.

In Davidson, the five most popular sports were football (with more than a third of redeemed vouchers), netball, swimming, rugby union and dance.

A second $100 Active Kids voucher will be available for the six month period from 1 July to 31 December 2019. From 2020, two $100 Active Kids vouchers will be available from Service NSW for the entire calendar year.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said Active Kids had been very successful since it launched at the start of 2018, with over 1 million vouchers already issued.

“This is all about making sports more accessible for more children across the State. By making it affordable for parents, we are doing our part to help make kids active and healthy,” Ms Berejiklian said.

Minister for Sport, Stuart Ayres said the expansion would benefit sports that traditionally seek registrations in the second half of the year.

“If your child plays cricket in the summer and football in winter, you use a $100 voucher to pay for cricket registration fees and then use the second $100 voucher to help offset the costs for the football season,” Mr Ayres said.

The two vouchers cannot be combined to pay for one single program costing more than $100. They can be used with the one provider to help pay the cost of two separate terms of sport, such as the summer and winter season of netball.

To apply for the Active Kids voucher, parents can register online with Service NSW and find a registered sport or physical activity, club or organisation.
