You are accustomed to the sights, sounds and smells of your home, so when you think you are ready, ask a trusted friend or neighbour to come in to your home and tell you honestly what they see, hear and smell. Then you’ll know if you are really ready.
Ten tips on presenting your home for sale
Give your front door a fresh coat of paint, put out a welcome mat and remove the clutter from around the entrance to your home.
Declutter. Decide on what you want to keep and then there are only 3 options for everything else: Sell it, Gift it, or Dump it. Have a garage sale or use Gumtree to sell your stuff.
Use simple basic furniture with colourful accessories.
Remove family photos etc., and replace with plenty of colourful artworks hanging at eye-level.
Open windows and doors at least an hour before any inspection.
All lights on.
Play gentle peaceful mood music in the living areas.
Use a subtle room deodoriser or oil burner.
Empty laundry baskets and rubbish bins.
Water the garden before inspections.
