BEECROFT CHELTENHAM CIVIC TRUST

Ross Walker always found February and March to be very busy times for the Beecroft Cheltenham Civic Trust. As mentioned in last month’s article, this year is no exception with Clean Up Australia on 3rd March, meet the State Candidates on 12th March and our AGM on 19th March. With Federal elections expected to be held in May, the Trust is also planning a Federal Meet the Candidates for 8th April. Details of the meetings will be posted on our website and in our Enews. As they are public meetings, everyone is welcome to attend.

It’s been a couple of years now since the council amalgamation process was completed and Parramatta Council is now taking the next step of rationalising the various planning controls applying to their recently acquired suburbs. This review includes Beecroft south of the M2 as well as parts of the Hills Council area. Naturally, Parramatta Council will want to simplify the planning controls, but initial reading indicates that while the larger lots under the Hills Council controls will be retained, the lot sizes covering Beecroft will be reduced to match other areas of Parramatta. I encourage affected residents living in Parramatta Council LGA to visit the Council website and if compelled, to make a submission. The Trust also has the Council links in our Enews.

Lastly I would like to thank my local community for nominating me for a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM). It was a pleasant surprise to receive the award on Australia Day.
