What a great birthday

Our Patron Tree of Beecroft is one year old and the community got together for a picnic to celebrate. With help from Graham Ross, gardening celebrity, Julian Leeser MP for Berowra, local Councillors and many other locals, we planted a second White Mahogany at Beecroft Village Green. Thanks to all the groups for organising and all the locals who turned up and made it a great afternoon.

It has come to the Trust’s attention that significant pollution is occurring in Devlins Creek. With so many construction sites in Epping, there is reported evidence of large volumes of polluted water entering the stormwater system. This is the second time in as many months,  with the first resulting in a large fine to the developer. If you are ever in the area, please keep an eye on the waterways and report any pollution to the Environmental Protection Agency. Last year we lost a lot of fish and eels in this creek and this has to stop.

The Trust is looking forward to seeing the revised plan for the landscaping of Beecroft Village Gardens by Hornsby Council. After the community consultation period closed mid August, the Trust received a lot of feedback in that the draft plan was not in keeping with the Heritage Conservation Area. We feel as though more extensive consultation should take place. The access for the new carpark at the community centre is also not ideal and we hope suggestions from the community are strongly considered.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the Trust.
