Kalkari Lookout
Kalkari Lookout

The Birrawanna Track
Walk details
2 hrs, 4.4 km on a return moderate track

Starting with a coffee from the cafe at Bobbin Head, this walk follows the track up through the forest to the Kalkari Discovery Centre. Start the walk by heading up the sandstone steps then follow the track as it winds up the sandstone hillside. There are some great views at times back through ferns over Bobbin Head and Cowan Creek. Follow the Kalkari signs as the track leads you up, then around the fenced enclosure to the main carpark at the front of Kalkari Discovery Centre where there are toilets, drinking water and picnic tables.

Kalkari is well worth spending some time exploring – the Centre is staffed by informative volunteers, with some interesting displays. There is an extra loop track within Kalkari worth doing with a great lookout – you are likely to see some wallabies, snakes, lizards and plenty of birds.

When ready, retrace your steps back along the same track to Bobbin Head. There is an entry fee for vehicles into Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
