Christmas Drive alert

Last year’s Christmas Appeal
Last year’s Christmas Appeal
Jan Forbes-Madden, FOMC

Yes it’s the run up to Christmas! Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the Mount Colah community – both business and private – last year’s Christmas Drive was a huge success. Now Friends of Mount Colah (FOMC) is  preparing for this year’s event, using a similar format.

Posters will be displayed in local shops and businesses  early in December, detailing the event. If any local business would like to display a poster and was not approached last year, contact FOMC through their Facebook page, or call Jan on 0410467447. We would be happy to supply a poster. The drop-off points for gifts will be the same as last year:

  • Mount Colah Pharmacy, 601 Pacific Highway, Mount Colah,
  • Dynamic Motion Physiotherapy, 385 Pacific Highway, Asquith,
  • Galley Foods Eatery, inside the Marina, Bobbin Head.

Donations to the drive are distributed to local folk who are not able to experience the joy of Christmas that many families take for granted. Donation suggestions include toys, books, games for children, toiletries, homewares or packaged food gifts.

Last year the FOMC teamed up with Hornsby Connect and distributed the gifts to people through their Wednesday food outlet and the intention is to do the same this year. Hornsby Connect has recently relocated to new premises on the corner of Muriel and Burdett Streets and is an excellent venue.

We’re not suggesting people donate expensive gifts. As always, the thought is what counts and for many people who are approaching Christmas with the thought that  there’s no-one to care for them, that it’s causing extreme hardship to buy a gift for a child, or they’re feeling alone with the festive season approaching, a gift may lessen the sense of desolation.

As a community we wish to show we care and as shown last year, our community cares too and is prepared to show it with their generous donations.
