Friends of Mount Colah (FOMC) are enthusiastically preparing for Chistmas. For the past two years FOMC has received charitably donated gifts from the community and distributed them through Hornsby Connect. This way our community was able to share the Christmas spirit by supplying gifts to those in need.
This year we are redirecting our energies and with generous support from Hornsby Council, will be decorating and lighting the Mount Colah strip of businesses. The idea is to emphasise the connection of the businesses to the local community and with a common theme of decoration and lighting. The recent morning tea and official opening of FOMC notice board proved to be such a success. It was clear evidence of the willingness of our community to get together on such occasions and to mingle in a casual atmosphere. Locals were able to chat to old friends and make new friends of people they may have noticed but not had the opportunity to engage further.
So keep an eye out for the ‘Light up of Mount Colah, Christmas 2018’.
FOMC are also eager to support the new venture of the D-Caf pilot program in Waitara. It is a six week pilot program running from Thursday 08 November to Thursday 13 December. Opening hours 10-00 to 12.00 at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai PCYC in Waitara. The notice with more details, is displayed in the new notice board outside Mount Colah Pharmacy.
Another initiative by FOMC soon to be in operation is the street library. This will be installed next to the new notice board outside Mount Colah Pharmacy. It has been constructed and is currently being painted by artists of Studio Artes who have generously given of their time and creativity to draw together a Mount Colah theme. FOMC are looking forward to being able to host another community event for the launch of the street library.
